Neuroaffirming Adult Autism & ADHD Evaluations
Find Clarity, Access Support, and Reclaim Your Story
Maybe you’ve been misdiagnosed, dismissed, or told you don’t seem autistic or like you have ADHD. Maybe you’ve compensated so well that no one — including you — could see how much effort it was taking.
This is where that changes.
Side Quest Psychotherapy offers two pathways for adult autism and ADHD evaluations, both conducted by Jenna Stone, LCSW-C — a licensed clinician with advanced specialty training in neurodevelopmental assessment and lived experience as an AuDHD clinician. Evaluations are available in person in College Park, Maryland and via telehealth for clients in Maryland, Virginia, and Florida.
Both pathways produce formal diagnostic documentation suitable for medication access, self-advocacy, and accommodation requests. The difference is in depth, battery size, and the level of documentation produced.
TWO PATHWAYS. ONE GOAL.

Focused Diagnostic Interview
I want clinical confirmation.
You're fairly certain you're autistic and/or have ADHD. You want a clinician to evaluate that directly — without the full battery. Produces a brief diagnostic summary with formal diagnostic codes.
Autism or ADHD · $600–$900 Autism + ADHD · $1,200–$1,800 $300/hr · 2–3 hours per track 3 or 6 month interest-free payment plans available

Extended diagnostic exploration is available at $300/hour as an add-on to either pathway. We can look at ARFID, OCD, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, and more. Bring it up in your free consultation and we'll build it into your plan from the start.
Need a letter? Accommodation letters are available for $150 per letter within three months of your evaluation date.

OUR APPROACH
What Makes This a Neuroaffirming Evaluation?
For decades, autism and ADHD were defined using narrow criteria — built primarily on research conducted with white, male, school-age children. That history meant a lot of people were missed. If you’re one of them, you’re not alone — and it’s not too late.
A neuroaffirming evaluation doesn’t measure you against a neurotypical baseline and call the gap a deficit. It tries to understand how your brain actually works — how you process sensory input, manage attention, experience demand, and navigate a world that wasn’t designed for you.
Standard diagnostic tools often can't see through years of compensation. We use measures specifically designed to account for camouflaging, late identification, burnout, and the ways autism and ADHD present in adults — particularly those whose presentations don't match the stereotypes.
You don't have to perform your symptoms or convince us you're struggling. The patterns you've noticed in yourself over a lifetime are clinically meaningful. Our job is to add structure and documentation to what you already know.
Neuroaffirming doesn't mean lowering the bar. Every evaluation uses DSM-5-TR criteria, structured clinical interviews, and validated psychometric measures. Reports include DSM-5-TR and ICD-10 codes formatted for clinical, medical, and legal use. In Maryland, Virginia, and Florida, LCSWs are authorized to diagnose within their scope of practice.
A diagnosis is a tool, not a verdict. Whether you're seeking clarity for yourself or documentation for accommodations, medication, or disability services — we're here to help you get what you actually need.
WHO WE WORK WITH
Who We Evaluate
These evaluations are designed for people who’ve often been missed or dismissed by conventional assessment processes.
Late-identified adults
Who've spent years — sometimes decades — wondering why the world felt so much harder to navigate than it seemed to for everyone else.
People who mask or camouflage well
Who've been told they "don't seem autistic" despite a lifetime of evidence to the contrary. Masking is often invisible — including to the people doing it.
Complex or overlapping presentations
Autism + ADHD, eating disorders, OCD, trauma, chronic illness. We know these intersections well and evaluate for them directly.
Those seeking a second opinion
Who had a prior evaluation that didn't account for masking, burnout, or how presentations shift with age. A second-look assessment can provide a more complete picture.
LGBTQIA+ adults
Whose gender identity, sexuality, or presentation complicated or delayed their path to diagnosis. Research consistently shows higher rates of autism and ADHD in LGBTQIA+ populations.
Children & adolescents
We offer dedicated evaluations for young people as well. Learn more →

THE PROCESS
What To Expect
Whether you choose the Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment or the Focused Diagnostic Interview, the process is designed to be low-pressure, paced for your brain, and clear at every step.
Free consultation
A no-commitment conversation to talk through what you're looking for, which evaluation fits your needs, and whether Side Quest is the right fit. No referral required.
Intake & pre-session measures
You'll complete intake paperwork and relevant questionnaires before your session — sent in advance so your time with Jenna is spent in conversation, not filling out forms. If paperwork is hard to sit down with on your own, Jenna offers a complimentary body-doubling session so you don't have to do it alone.
Evaluation session(s)
Each session is scheduled as a dedicated 3-hour block — available via telehealth or in person in College Park, Maryland. Most sessions run 2–3 hours; the full block is reserved so there's no pressure to rush. If you're pursuing both Autism and ADHD through the Comprehensive Assessment, each track gets its own 3-hour block.
Optional feedback session
Approximately two weeks after your evaluation, you're welcome to schedule a 30-minute feedback session with Jenna to walk through your findings before receiving your written report. Optional — but many people find it the most meaningful part of the process.
Your written documentation
Your report or diagnostic summary is delivered at the close of your feedback session — or approximately two weeks after your evaluation if you opt out. Yours to keep and use however is most helpful.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Common Questions About Our Evaluations
Can a Licensed Clinical Social Worker diagnose autism and ADHD?
Yes. In Maryland, Virginia, and Florida, fully licensed clinical social workers are legally authorized to diagnose mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions — including autism and ADHD in both adults and children — when they have appropriate post-graduate training and clinical competence in assessment.
At Side Quest Psychotherapy, evaluations are conducted by Jenna Stone, LCSW-C, who has advanced clinical training and supervised experience in autism and ADHD assessment. Their clinical focus includes PDA profiles, late-identified and masked adults, and multiply neurodivergent presentations. Jenna engages in ongoing consultation with psychologists and other assessment specialists to maintain rigorous diagnostic standards.
What is the difference between a Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment and Focused Diagnostic Interview?
The Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment uses an extensive standardized battery — including a full sensory and interoceptive workup — and produces a 20–30 page clinical report with DSM-5-TR and ICD-10 codes, domain-specific findings, functional impact analysis, and accommodation recommendations. Priced at $2,000 for Autism or ADHD, or $3,000 for a combined evaluation.
The Focused Diagnostic Interview uses a targeted set of measures and produces a brief diagnostic summary, completed in approximately 2–3 hours at $300/hour. Both include an optional feedback session and both can support medication access. Neither is better — they serve different needs and budgets.
How do you make sure the evaluation isn't just confirming what I already think?
Every evaluation uses a multi-method approach: structured clinical interviews, validated psychometric measures, developmental history, sensory and interoceptive profiling, and optional collateral input. Consistent patterns across time and settings carry more weight than any single data point.
While many people come in with a strong sense of their neurotype, evaluations sometimes reveal a different or more complex picture. Trauma, OCD, anxiety, mood disorders, and other conditions can overlap with or mimic autistic and ADHD presentations. The goal is a clinically sound and personally meaningful understanding of how your brain works — whether or not it matches your initial assumptions.
What is the difference between the Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment and the Focused Diagnostic Interview?
The Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment uses an extensive standardized battery including a full sensory workup, and produces a full clinical report (20–30 pages) suitable for most accommodation documentation. It is priced at $2,000 for Autism or ADHD, or $2,500 for a combined evaluation. The Focused Diagnostic Interview uses a targeted set of measures and produces a brief diagnostic summary, completed in a single 3-hour session at $300/hour. Both include an optional 30-minute feedback session and both can support medication access. Neither is better — they serve different needs.
What if I’ve been evaluated before but wasn’t diagnosed?
This is more common than people realize. Many earlier evaluations didn’t account for masking, camouflaging, autistic burnout, or the ways autism and ADHD present in adults — particularly those with more internalized or less stereotypical traits.
Our understanding of autism has changed significantly. Changes in the DSM and a growing body of research have expanded how clinicians recognize neurodivergent presentations — especially among people historically overlooked. At Side Quest, evaluations are grounded in current research and explicitly account for masking, demand sensitivity, burnout, and how functioning shifts across environments. If a prior evaluation didn’t feel accurate or affirming, the Focused Diagnostic Interview is often a good fit for a second look.
Can my evaluation support access to medication?
Yes. Both the Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment and the Focused Diagnostic Interview produce written documentation that can support medication conversations with your prescribing provider. Our reports are regularly used to support clinical decision-making. That said, individual prescribers ultimately determine what documentation they require. If you have a specific prescriber in mind, that’s worth discussing during your consultation.
Will my evaluation work for school or workplace accommodations?
The Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment produces a full clinical report that often meets documentation requirements for accommodations, including many university disability services. However, we cannot guarantee acceptance — each institution sets its own policies, and some specifically require documentation from psychologists or neuropsychologists.
The Focused Diagnostic Interview produces a brief diagnostic summary, which may not meet formal documentation standards for all institutions. If you have a specific accommodation setting in mind, bring it up during your consultation and we’ll help you choose the option most likely to meet your goals.
