Neuroaffirming Therapy
Psychotherapy Fees
Side Quest Psychotherapy is a private-pay, out-of-network practice. All fees are paid at the time of service through IvyPay, which accepts all major credit cards, HSA cards, and FSA cards.
We use an equity-based tiered model — not a traditional sliding scale. You choose the rate that fits your current capacity. No paperwork, no proof of hardship, no interrogation. Each tier receives the same quality of care, the same clinical attention, and the same therapeutic relationship.

How to choose your tier
Most clients select the Standard Rate, and some choose to Pay It Forward so others can access care at the Accessible Rate. There’s no right or wrong answer here — and no one is checking your work. This guide exists to help you reflect on your current financial position, not to gatekeep access. If you plan to submit superbills for out-of-network reimbursement, you can factor that potential reimbursement into your decision.

The Accessible Rate is not a discount — it’s a community-based way to keep care reachable while honoring the labor that goes into it. If you rely on SSDI, Medicaid, or similar benefits, reach out before booking so we can explore what’s possible together.
AFFORDABILITY POLICY
If cost becomes a barrier
There’s no shame in that conversation. If the cost of therapy ever starts to feel like a source of stress rather than a path to support, we’d rather talk about it than have you quietly stop showing up.
Depending on your situation, options may include adjusting your pricing tier, exploring whether a different service or session format might be a better fit, or — if needed — connecting you with trusted colleagues whose fees may work better for where you are financially right now.
Our priority is that you get the care you need in a way that’s genuinely sustainable — not support held together by financial stress.
SUPERBILLS FOR INSURANCE
Out-of-network reimbursement & superbills
If your insurance plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement of session costs. We can provide a superbill — a detailed receipt you submit directly to your insurer. Reimbursement rates vary by plan and typically cover 50–80% of session fees, depending on your deductible and benefits.
Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis to process a claim. We’re happy to explain what that means and what it does — and doesn’t — obligate before we begin. Some clients prefer to pay privately to avoid having a diagnosis in their medical record, which is worth considering if confidentiality is a priority.
Ask your insurance provider whether they cover these CPT codes:
A note on the cost of specialized care
We know that many of our clients — particularly those navigating eating disorder recovery — are working with multiple providers at once, many of whom don't accept insurance because of the specialized nature of the care they provide. That financial reality is real, and we don't take it lightly.
If you're experiencing insurance denials for medical nutrition therapy or dietitian services, IFEDD offers a free appeal letter generator that may help you fight back against those denials.
